In accordance with one the aspects of the Open Science paradigm, which promotes the quick availability of research results, Hematología enables authors to deposit a copy of their article in the SciELo preprints. Open Access repository before submitting it to the journal.
In the case of using this option, the author submitting the article should communicate the situation to the journal.
It is worth noting that this early publishing has the following implications:
- It allows the dissemination of the authors' work among members of a specific scientific community without waiting for its approval and publication by a peer-reviewed scientific journal.
- The authors can incorporate the comments or observations that arise from the critical review before the submission for publication in a scientific journal.
- Although the article loses its unpublished character, this situation does not prevent it from being considered by the journal Editorial Committee since Hematología prioritizes the early dissemination of research results following the Open Science paradigm.
- The publishing of manuscripts in the preprints repository affects the peer-review process in the media to the extent that the authors lose their anonymity for external evaluators.
